Sept. 13, 2021

Dear Maverick Families,

Just a short update today. See attached for robotics information.

Good news-

  • The first annual Grand Mountain Stampede (fund run) will be held Sept 24 th. We held our introductory event on Friday the 10 th to explain to students what to expect. Information should have been brought home this past weekend. Tentatively, students in grades 6-8 will run between 11am and noon. 6 th grade will go first at 11:00, 7 th grade at 11:20, and 8 th at 11:40. They will complete a 1/8 th mile course.

  • The WSD3 community parade is this coming Saturday, September 18 th. Our fall sports teams, cheerleading, and student council are planning to walk in the parade to represent grades 6-8. The PTO has several Jeep's in lieu of a float this year. The parade starts at 10:30am, and any student walking must have a signed permission slip turned in prior to participating. The parade starts at the Big R parking lot and ends at Widefield High School.

Reminders-

  • Sept 17 th is a WSD3 PD Day. Sept 20 th is a GMS Innovation Day for GMS Staff PD on computer science. There is no school for students on Sept 17 th & 20 th.

  • CMAS results from last spring's assessments were sent home this past week. The tests completed last spring were -
    3rd ELA
    4th Math
    5th ELA
    6th Math
    7th ELA
    8th Math
    8th Science

  • Mask wearing is once again in effect. This is one of few measures that give us some control in aiding students and staff from having to quarantine. We are doing this practice to increase the odds of keeping students in school, which is what we all want.

  • Please continue to keep your students home if they are displaying any symptoms at all (runny nose, fever, headaches, body aches, cough, etc.). These absences will be excused, and our teachers will partner with you to ensure that your student progresses in their learning.

Make it a great week, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Thank You!

Sincerely,

Brian Pohl
