Course Scheduling

The  Grand Mountain School Course Description Manual is available for students and families to review to help with course selections.

All students are required to take 4 core classes (math, language arts, social studies, and science).  Additionally, students participate in 3 elective classes per semester. All students will automatically be enrolled in their core classes. If data indicate your student requires intervention in reading or math, they may be placed in a reading or math intervention class. Students are unable to repeat elective courses already completed. 

All students are offered three to six elective classes during a school year depending on whether the electives are semester- or year-long courses.  Year-long electives such as competitive robotics, orchestra, choir, and band take two elective spots in the year (1 fall semester and 1 spring semester).  Students may only take two instrument classes during the academic year when recommended and authorized by the teacher. Year-long electives cannot be dropped at semester.

Courses have limited seating, and not all requests can be accommodated. Due to building needs, students may be placed in a course they did not request. Students who do not submit a Scheduling Form will have their schedule created by the counseling team, and will be unable to change classes.

Scheduling for the 2026-2027 School Year

Schedule Change Requests

Junior High students may submit a schedule change request form. All requests for schedule changes must be submitted by the end of the FIRST week of school using the Schedule Change Request Form. Paper copies can also be found in the counseling office. It is up to students to get teacher signatures. Year-long classes will not be changed at semester.
